Open-Source
Intelligence Division

supported by:

The Open-Source Intelligence Award will be presented to a startup leveraging publicly available data to strengthen the fact-finding, verification, and accountability capabilities of local journalists.

Division winners will receive a grant of up to $50,000 and are eligible for an additional $25,000 Grand Prize Award.

In this division, our judges will look for startups that:

Utilize open-source intelligence practices to gather and analyze publicly available sources.

Collaborate meaningfully with other journalistic partners to fill gaps.

Investigate and expose truths in ways that lead to concrete outcomes.

Practice transparency and trust-building by showing their work.
